Description: 14 graded XF-40, 70 higher at PCGS. The surface has been perhaps laid a bit bare by conservation, but no matter, given the difficulty of locating a nicer 1896-S with so much definition remaining. Collectors will not hesitate to place strong bids for the third key to the series, and a coin that almost never shows up with sharpness above the Fine level. Metallic greyish texture remains present throughout, with modest remnants of luster still clinging to spaces between obverse stars.
