Description: 92 graded MS-65, 14 higher at NGC. Over the past several years, the release of some two rolls of "gem" 1912-S nickels has been impacting the market and elevating the population of MS-65 examples, especially at PCGS. Do not be fooled, however, as 1912-S easily remains one of the top three keys to the series, and particularly tough at the NGC MS-65 grade. Mellow coral-gold infuses this superior gem example with strictly vintage appeal, and the most careful inspection of each side reveals the presence of perhaps two utterly unimportant ticks, neither of which would prevent upgrade. Sharpness can certainly vary for the sole San Francisco Liberty nickel, but absolutely no fault will be found for the virtually perfect details seen here.
