Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1859 Cent Pattern, J-228, PCGS MS-64
Lot Number: 325
Description: Snowy Distance Collection. Judd-228 mates the obverse of a regular 1859-dated Indian cent die with the normal production dies of 1860-64, producing a "transitional" issue that is frequently collected by fans of the Indian cent series. It is a common pattern and the cataloger has often thought that Indian cent albums should have a placeholder for collectors. The merits of this particularly near-gem are obvious since both sides display clean, vibrant presence that takes full advantage of ideal copper-nickel tan color and superb sharpness. It truly has claims to a higher grade, since the lack of vibrancy reflects more upon the striking format that preservation. A great selection for the enthusiast.
