Description: If not for the aforementioned "rim damage", this 1848-D would be an outstanding AU example as it displays flashy, deep-basin luster and outstanding well-rendered design elements. Merely a touch of friction in the fields departs from Unc sharpness. A tiny portion of the obverse top rim has been crimped away, resulting in the NGC disclaimer, but look carefully. It actually could be as-struck in the cataloger's humble opinion.
