Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1844 F-15, and an 1860-O XF-45, both PCGS
Lot Number: 229
Description: Blackjack Can Collection. Only 20,000 dollars were minted in 1844, this example surviving with terrific dove-grey patina and nearly enough sharpness for the very-fine grade. For a coin this size, the surface seems wonderfully free from distraction. 1860-O is a well-known hoard date, although this circulated example clearly would not have sourced from the famous mint bag dispersed in the 1960s. Predominant almond-grey shows flashes of denim-blue, and the mintmark area appears to have been faintly erasered, although not to detrimental effect (PCGS does not mention "cleaning"). Two coin lot.
