Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1893-S PCGS F-15
Lot Number: 689
Description: Mintage: 100,000. The color and two-toned accenting of both sides could not possibly be more perfect for a coin of indisputably original character. The central curl over the ear and a few of the broader details on the obverse are just a trifle too flat to permit upgrade, but the quality cannot be missed, since neither side shows any obvious, unexpected abrasions for such a long stint in circulation. Perhaps a thin hairline scratch at the forehead could be mentioned, but it has toned along with the rest of the surface. 1893-S remains the undisputed key to the series, and even a superior, choice Fine example will prove to be a substantial investment, yet any astute collector will recognize the value of investing in a superior example like this over a coin one-half grade higher with distractions.
