Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1852 PCGS MS-64
Lot Number: 471
Description: Mintage: 77,130. 5 graded MS-64, 3 higher at PCGS. Wiley-Bugert-101 has a nicely repunched 2 in the date. Scalding luster jumps out as one of the defining characteristics of this golden-beige near-gem half-dollar. Although central details have been brought up with surgical precision, the planchet may have had slightly uneven thickness, as some faint roller marks can still be seen at Liberty's head, as well as at HALF on the reverse, as if that portion of the planchet had been rolled a tad too thin. A very rare item near the gem grade level, as is suggested by the low mintage and the PCGS population report.
