Description: In an unusual twist, the consignor actually had this piece in his Morgan dollar collection in place of the 1883 in order to make it a more interesting and challenging acquisition (along with a Lafayette dollar). He has since decided to make his set more straightforward. Attractive olive-blue drapes most of each side, blending easily into flashes of orange-beige at the extreme periphery. Several small ticks appear on the portrait, yet for the type, this is one of the more unblemished examples one is likely to find at the AU level, as many have been mistreated over the years.
