Description: Unfairly overshadowed in high grades by the '26-S, 1924-S is a formidable key at the XF level in the Buffalo nickel series, providing the highest challenge aside from the three traditional "variety keys". The surface exhibits perfect color, with iron-grey and beige delineating the design and reinforcing bold presence. The bison's horn technically lacks a complete tip, but this is generally regarded as "the norm" for a 1920s San Francisco striking. Very satisfying for a key nickel, neither side shows evidence of improper handling, as there are no serious contact mark nor spots.
