Description: West Jefferson Collection. Distinctly blunt strike quality definitely foreshadows the troubles at the San Francisco mint over the following decade, as each side displays noticeable lack of sharpness along the finest details. Evidence of a clashed die shows as extra "lines" in the obverse fields, and some die erosion can be inferred from orange peel effect on the Indian's neck. That said, the surface certainly has a very original appearance, with obvious luster present in the wide open areas.
