Description: The traditional criteria for the VF grade includes 2/3 of the horn detail being present. With that notion in mind, one could easily see the present overdate rarity sitting in such a holder without blinking an eye, especially because the quality is otherwise outstanding given the optimal grey tone and superior darker surface inflections. That being said, NGC may have noticed a small rectangular planchet lamination just left of the denomination, and applied the "silent net grade" principle. An extremely desirable rarity in the buffalo nickel series, and a fabulous for only the assigned "fine" level!
