Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1880/79-CC Reverse of 1878 Paramount MS-62
Lot Number: 582
Description: Paramount holder. VAM-4, a "Top 100" variety, is extremely popular due to the classic 80/79 obverse overdate that then combines with an even older reverse die of 1878. Although this example resides in a classic Redfield holder and now features prominent, deep burnt-orange and jade toning around the periphery, it is almost certainly a GSA survivor, showing the lightly abraded cheek that almost seems to have been how this date left the dies. For the collector pursuing a set in original Paramount holders, 1880/79-CC will prove to be one of the near-impossible ones to locate -- indeed, the cataloger has never seen one before. A truly exceptional opportunity.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
