Lot Title: 1919 Buffalo nickel, double struck, rotated in collar, NGC F-12
Lot Number: 265
Description: Given the remarkable appearance of the side double-struck error, it's surprising this nickel wasn't pulled from circulation sooner. The NGC F-12 grade, although not terribly relevant in the cataloger's opinion, suggests firm but even wear that has left behind the bolder details of the design elements. Fortunately, plenty enough detail remains to allow for appreciation of the partial extra LIBERTY lurking below the dominant strike, and "19" from the second date can easily be read on the left side of the obverse. An altogether memorable nickel, and one destined to be a prize in an astute error collector's holdings.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
