Description: Although quite common in mundane mint-state grades, the 1851 dollar is not at all common at the gem level. The obverse for this glowing, classic gold example was struck with exacting detail, while the reverse shows some weakness at the date -- quite expected for the type. There is just nothing to complain about for this diminutive satin jewel, although we do note minor evidence of copper toning here and there.
