Lot Title: 1939 Proof set in a Capital Plastics holder
Lot Number: 368
Description: The Car Wars Collection. Collector appeal: "B+" in our opinion. Given the "dip it" mindset prevalent today, each is an unusually original example for this 1939 Capital proof set. Ruby-orange patina splashes both sides of the Lincoln cent, and that might deny a "RD" designation, but it's a pretty example with gleaming luster and, of course, fantastic detail. The half-dollar, quarter, and especially the dime feature significant cameo frost, still obvious despite the patina. Individual grades should easily fall into the PF-64 to PF-65 range.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
