Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1793 Chain Ameri., as described
Lot Number: 140
Description: Sheldon-1 attributes very easily once the AMERI. spelling on the reverse has been verified, although that side displays only very faint peripheral lettering. For that matter, the date does not show at all on the obverse due to heavy, honest wear, but collectors today know that the grading services will still certify dateless coins at the Good (or even VG) level. PCI suggests a grade of G-4 with no problems noted, and the commercial grade is remarkably congruent with legitimate grading standards. The planchet is astonishingly smooth and nice for the grade, showing essentially no corrosion, and merely a single, lengthy oblong planchet flaw appears on the reverse as the only major distraction. A sizable rim bump at 6:30 of the obverse shows prominently, but the remainder of the edge cannot be viewed due to the slab insert. Terrific value, hidden right here in a PCI slab!

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
