Description: The masses had preserved thousands of type-1 examples but the novelty of the new bison nickel had worn off by the time type-2 coins were entering circulation; thus the 1913-S type-2 has long been known as a very difficult date within the series. This is a great example despite slightly aged dies, as it shows intricate details overall, including pronounced clashing. Colorful hues dance over the surface and create some occasional rainbow effects.
