Description: Espresso Logic Collection. Far prettier than a slightly circulated gold half-eagle ought to look, this Carson City flaunts considerable deep orange coloration atop satiny, yet somehow flashy luster. While touch friction in the fields decidedly nails down the grade, details were hammered out by a terrific strike, and gain visibility from splashes of steely grey and violet iridescence, especially on the reverse. The Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award applies here for a coin that, while not necessarily "cheap", should prove approachable to most collectors while at the same time providing substantially more aesthetic appeal than one typically hopes for from a toned gold coin. And that mintmark, too.
