Description: Browning-1. Ex-Bailey collection. A single pair of dies struck all of the quarters for the final date of 1838 in the capped-bust series. This is an utterly captivating example, filled with luster and boasting deeply saturated midnight-orange and denim-blue coloration throughout. A curious, curling hairline abrasion in the obverse left field hides beneath the patina, as does one small nick above the forehead, neither infraction detracting from lovely eye-appeal. Struck with razor-sharp accuracy and destined to close out a high-caliber collection of small-sized bust quarters.
