Lot Title: 1903-S PCGS MS-65 CACCAC
Lot Number: 690
Description: Bert Davies Collection. 133 graded MS-65, 84 higher at PCGS. VAM-9, we believe, although this is such a rare gem that few collectors will be pursuing it for inclusion in a VAM set. Rather, as one of the famous four most difficult 20th century Morgan dollars, the 1903-S represents one of many cornerstones for a bragging-rights collection of silver dollars. By far, most are found in low grade, almost as if they had been struck in Fine condition to begin with, and went downhill from there.

Marvelous sharpness will captivate most viewers who expect less, but will be thrilled with more than the usual amount of delineation over the ear, while the eagle boasts borderline-full feathers. As a result of a great strike both sides beam with frosty windmill luster and plentiful silvery brilliance. Utterly trivial, near-microscopic abrasions rest on the cheek and a few delicate luster grazes, just as trivial, spill over into the fields. An absolutely glowing, satin-laden gem that could not be more accurately graded..
