Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1889-CC VF
Lot Number: 635
Description: Cataloger's grade: [VF-20]. For an example that has never been certified, this is a stunningly attractive, and absolutely ideal basal very-fine example of the famous key date. These surfaces are incredibly free from any mentionable contact, show silky dove-grey patina and feature the perfect amount of charcoal grunge worked into the crevices so as to embolden apparent sharpness (which might well be VF-25+. It seems these days that just about every cool key date like this has been stuffed into a plastic slab, so this dollar earns the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award, in part for the simple pleasure of being able to actually hold THE COIN without being compelled to peer at it through a layer of plastic.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
