Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1888 PCGS PR-64+DCAM
Lot Number: 248
Description: 1 graded PR-64+ DCAM, 12 higher at PCGS. Proof strikes shared the exact same dies used to strike circulation examples, so it can be very difficult to discern one from the other; this is a date known for astounding prooflike examples! In this case, PCGS seems to rely upon the depth of strike as all seven feathers in the headdress show complete definition, even while LIBERTY appears a trifle shallow at "RT". The cataloger notes a collar anomaly at far left, between 9:00 and 11:00 which would provide an unambiguous pedigree marker. The assigned grade does not quite reach the gem level, and therefore supports the inclusion of very few delicate hairlines while the surface displays no mentionable marks.
