Lot Title: Three hobo nickels
Lot Number: 168
Description: Collector appeal: A+. This is a sensational trio to the cataloger's eye, and we will make our best attempt at some attribution. First is 1925, apparently "Hunchback" and an extremely attractive two-sided effort with unusually careful details, including partially retextured fields. A traditional hobo with a domed hat and beard occupies the obverse, the end of the beard extending into the obverse right field -- highly unusual. The reverse has been carved to depict a hobo with staff in hand, and burdened with a knapsack. Second is 1913-D type-1, seemingly a match for "Cornucopia" with the beard textured by repeated punchings that give it an ethnic appearance. The style of the ear is questionable, however. Third and last is (no-date)-D that does not seem to have a good match, but the beard is textured with numerous punchings - more numerous than typical. Three coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
