Lot Title: 1864 Small Motto PCGS PR-64BN
Lot Number: 969
Description: The First Through Last Collection. FS-401. 1 graded PR-64 BN, 6 higher at PCGS. And one would expected some of those to be regrades, as the 1864 "small motto" as a proof ranks as the rarest issue of the entire two-cent series. The Fivaz-Stanton number designates the doubled-die obverse which shows the most pronounced evidence of doubling at and below "WE" on the obverse. Darkly muted olive and mahogany interplay on either side, thinning to somewhat reddish hue nearer the rims. An extremely well detailed example that lacks any noticeable abrasions.
