Despite a mintage of nearly a million, the 1917-S "obverse" proves highly elusive at the choice grade level because most were softly struck and wore down quickly. Here is a fully lustrous example showing peach-gold bloom across wide swaths of either side. A handful of tiny dark crumbles show at the obverse lower left.
