Lot Title: 1901 PCGS MS-62 CACCAC
Lot Number: 746
Description: Knock Knock Collection. All serious Morgan dollar collectors immediately recognize 1901 as the most difficult Philadelphia specimen to obtain in any mint-state grade. This specimen offers a strike comparable to most, with modestly incomplete central details but good sharpness everywhere else. The coin appears fully lustrous with broadening borders of peach-gold toning on each side, and a shiny abrasion on the cheek probably holds the coin back from an even higher grade. Still, the surface otherwise seems just modestly abraded. Many years ago, price guides showed a huge jump in value between the present MS-62 and MS-63, but over time, as the certified population has increased, that bump moves up to the gap between MS-63 and MS-64. Nevertheless, nicer examples like this come along infrequently and always warrant consideration.
