Description: The First Through Last Collection. 11 graded PR-67 CAM 8 higher at NGC. Out of a mintage of 880 pieces, a decent number of proof 1895 dollars qualify for the gem level and many also boast cameo contrast. This marvelous example reaches into the superb-gem grade level and also appears rather close to a UCAM designation as both sides exhibit intense contrast between exceptionally dense texture on the devices against pronounced mirroring of the fields. The reverse fields appear to be slightly more reflective than the obverse fields, but as a whole, the unlimited depth of reflectivity required for UCAM is not quite there.

Depening upon how one chooses to collect the series, the 1895 proof-only might be considered the King of the series -- but only if one intends to collect proof strikes. Nevertheless, the 1895 holds a special place and one wants the best possible whenever seeking out a candidate for a set. To that end, this one almost looks too good to be true given the layered appearance and flawless fields. the cataloger could not fine one single hairline or distraction worthy of mention. 5x magnification reveals a handful of superficial surface abrasions but they are so tiny as to be rendered meaningless. A whisper of hazy patina has developed across the lower obverse and peach-grey toning trots inward from the rims, all of these features contributing to the blatant appeal of this crown jewel.
