Description: High Promises Collection. FS-802. Type II / II, large mintmark. This sale is fortunate to have two doubled-die examples of 1877-S, this one showing the most prominent spread at 420 GRAINS and TRADE DOLLAR. It is especially refreshing to find a choice example like this -- one that is not that heavily abraded, and thus allows gorgeous satiny mint luster to shine. The obverse shows significant evidence of album toning as rings of pastel ocean-blue and coral-pink line up with the stars. As usual for the date, the details are nicely struck up and show no areas of weakness at all.
