Lot Title: 1875 PCGS PR-63CAM CACCAC
Lot Number: 436
Description: The First Through Last Collection. 2 graded PR-63 CAM, zero higher at PCGS. DCAM examples exist and might be the only practical avenue for exceeding the desirability of this incredible rarity -- if a collector could actually find any other examples out of the original mintage of some twenty pieces. One would expect dies of such limited use to produce cameo examples and a single glance is all that's required to affirm the vast contrast on both sides. The obverse has better mirrors, but not by much as compared to the reverse. Were it not so impossible to locate additional examples to look at, the 1875 might provide an interesting die-study opportunity as the frost portrait shows a few raised die-polish lines on the neck as well as a cluster of microscopic die chips that created raised lumps. The surface displays classic medium gold hue with just enough richness to qualify as "original", even while some delicate hairlines dart into and out of the fields, affirming the numeric grade.
