Description: The First Through Last Collection. 12 graded MS-65 13 higher at PCGS. Not always acclaimed as a key to the series -- probably due to unfamiliarity with most collectors with the expensive gold eagle series -- the 1908-D sees very depressed population numbers near or above the gem grade level. Interestingly, the date is usually nicely produced as seen here, and many examples display similar, fine matte texture throughout. This coin explodes with booming windmill luster over shimmering khaki-gold. One or two longer, thin abrasions drop on the cheek while a small cluster of light contact marks gather at the center reverse.
