Lot Title: 1837 New York Feuchtwanger three-cent HT-262 NGC MS-62
Lot Number: 213
Description: HT-262 (R.3). Much rarer than the Feuchtwanger small cents, Dr. Feuchtwanger struck two different major varieties (the other with an eagle motif on the obverse) and minor variations including rare specimens of the exceptionally popular 3-cent pieces. Subdued luster with hints of pewter-tan glimmers over the fields, suggestive of a marvelously original example, and for a coin below the choice level, there are very few marks. For such a difficult and hard alloy, the dies brought up generally sharp details.
