Lot Title: Puerto Rico And Vieques - 1896-PG V 40 centavos - PCGS XF-40
Lot Number: 179
Description: Gadsden, Alabama Collection. KM#23. A major reason for the strong popularity of the 1896-PG 40-centavos is that it is the scarcest regular issue coinage of Puerto Rico. While collectable in nearly all grades, the coin starts to become quite scarce in an grade of very-fine and above, and numerous examples have surface issues common to any island environment. Here is an exquisitely original example showing marvelous, choice charcoal-grey patina over lightly worn devices. Not completely perfect per-se, a tiny edge ding shows at far left, and a handful or so of smallish circulation marks show on either side.
