Description: German States-Wurzburg. Johann Gottfried 1693-IMW thaler, KM#205, Dav-5993. A broad flan received outstanding definition from the dies, including nearly complete outer beading. The surface displays fabulous, original silver-grey toning and considerable remaining sharpness. At some point, undoubtedly centuries ago, a ring was soldered to the top of the coin for suspension, the ring itself having an engrailed design -- fitting for the purpose intended here.
