Lot Title: Austria - group of sixty type coins
Lot Number: 123
Description: Gingerbread, Cake and Candy Collection. The consignors (brother and sister) of this group explain that it was assembled by their father during the 1970s and 80s as a tribute to his Austrian heritage. Judging by the obvious age of the 2x2s, some of which are the very old style whereby the Mylar sheets were sold separately and inserted into the cardboard manually, the coins obviously have not been touched in decades. Later appraisal includes numerous retail values written on the holders. NOTE: some PVC holders required replacement with modern inert holders.

A very eclectic assortment covers a wide range of denominations and dates begins with copper, including a pair of AU 1816 1-kreuzer, 1772 1/48-thaler, and seven other minor piece. Next are nine base metal coins (1858 - 1954) including a slightly better 1894 1-corona, plus a 1966 proof 10-schilling. Earlier silver pieces include some highlights: 1765 20-kreuzer (Fine) and 1822-C taler (XF), 1907 5-korona (XF), 1860-A florin (UNC), and 1849-A 6-kreuzer (XF) plus ten other pieces dating from 1624 through 1908. Finally, the remaining best pieces might be: 1909 5-corona (AU, attractive toning), 1930 2-schilling (Ch BU, very attractive original), 1936 5-schilling (Gem and fantastic coloration), 1780 Maria Theresa thaler (Proof, intense and very pretty toning), and another circulation-strike 1780 thaler restrike. This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
