Lot Title: Australia - 1963 proof set
Lot Number: 120
Description: Gingerbread, Cake and Candy Collection. Far rarer than, for example, contemporary U.S. proof sets, Australia's proof coins of the 1960s frequently mimic circulation-strikes, but examination of the reeded edge(s) can verify for the extreme sharpness only produced during specialized striking by the dies. Here is a group of the four pieces that comprise a set: florin, shilling, sixpence and threepence. The Australian sets tend to survive with less toning than other commonwealth specimens due to the inert plastic storage box included here and highly desirable for these sets. The prior owner adhered typewritten notes to the holder.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
