One of the all-time great type coins, 1938-D shows the phenomenal luster and marvelous strike always seen, the grade determined by a quick hairline abrasion on the bison's foreleg. Despite its "variety" nature, 1938-D/D also never disappoints, this superb gem showing a bold repunched mintmark west, as well as gorgeous ruby-gold toning with a hint of blue over the Indian's portrait.
