Lot Title: 1888 NGC MS-66+
Lot Number: 822
Description: Ms. Anna's Collection. 10 graded MS-66+, 5 higher at NGC. Picking up the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award, the appearance of this quarter-dollar truly borders upon the sensational level, yet at a grade that will not break the bank. Ruby-orange hue drapes virtually the entire surface, thinning quickly away from the rims and taking on hints of bluish tone as it spills over the rims. An uncommonly attractive aspect is the fact that this is a fully lustrous example, and not one of the many semi-prooflike representatives of the low-mintage (10-thousand). Wonderful mint frost endows the entire surface, which also shows a distinctive dark toning streak straight down the left third of the obverse. Struck to an incredible degree of sharpness and showing only trivial feathery abrasions aside Liberty's upper portrait.
