Lot Title: 1895 PCGS PR-62 CACCAC
Lot Number: 662
Description: Yours Truly Collection. The mintage of 880 pieces has always been woefully inadequate to satisfy the demand for 1895 survivors, regardless of grade, and of course, no example of the date in circulation strike format has ever been uncovered. While 1895 is therefore a de-facto proof-only issue, collectors putting together full sets of date/mintmark silver dollars frequently target the 1895 for inclusion regardless of format, and that places enormous stress on the very limited supply.

Perusal with a loupe and a good lamp reveals an exquisitely sharp strike over the ear and along each one of the individually delineated breast feathers. Such quality of strike is not a given for proof Morgan dollars. Looking further, one finds a limited number of swirling hairlines that inevitably account for the grade, although they dissolve within the mirrored fields under some lighting angles. The reverse has a small splash of dark toning dots beneath the eagle's tail, spreading into the wreath below. Either side displays tasteful rim color that quickly merges with the attractive proof brilliance.
