Description: Ms. Anna's Collection. 101 graded MS-64 PL, 8 higher at NGC. Just twenty years ago, the 1885-S at the present grade level could have been had for under a thousand dollars, but certified populations support the notion that this is a much better date when affixed with a prooflike designation. The cataloger would contend that this example is not far from DMPL although this date was basined a little differently from most others, meaning it is very difficult to find an example with truly deep, flat mirrors. Wonderfully struck and very bright, the flashy appearance should draw in some very strong bids.
