Lot Title: Eighty Tokens (Mostly) from Upper and Lower Canada
Lot Number: 195
Description: Tobacco Road Collection. An impressive selection of mostly tokens has been well attributed by the consignor, and as can be plainly inferred by the flips, the collection was put together decades ago with effort made to collect better quality pieces. The cataloger has spot-checked several attributions which seem accurate, or at minimum, very close to specific attribution (sometimes missing medallic vs. coin alignment, etc.). Several pieces were in PVC flips and recently transferred to new 2x2s, with nearly all showing current retail prices. These cover Lower and Upper Canada, Montreal, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, plus a few miscellaneous Canada pieces. A few better pieces include: Lower Canada (several Wellington tokens, scarce1814 "Richard Hurd" [VF] 1816 Sir Isaac Brock token [Fine], and 1813 Wellington one-penny token [VF details], several Upper Canada Bank tokens with at least one grading AU, Lesslie & Sons halfpenny, 1833 sloop & plow halfpenny, and a one penny bank token [UNC/cleaned]); Montreal (including 1844 halfpenny [XF]); New Brunswick (including a much better 1854 penny [XF]); Newfoundland (including 1841 St. Johns halfpenny [Fine]); Nova Scotia (1823 15 leaves halfpenny [XF+], 1815 halfpenny [nice Fine], and 1832 halfpenny [Fine]); Prince Edward Island (including 1871 halfpenny [VF]); and Quebec (including 1852 bank token [VF]). Eighty coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
