Description: Presented to Mrs. Eugene V. Haynes (nee Helene Whitmore) of Atlanta, Georgia, may we offer one of her most cherished belongings, perhaps gifted to her on her wedding day - an antique Edwardian (C.1918 or so) 14K gold and platinum (hallmarked) mesh purse. Embellished with a nicely engraved handle with a blue sapphire cabochon catch, the front of the purse is set with round diamonds and princess cut (likely synthetic) blue sapphires. There is approximately 1.20 cttw in SI1-2 clarity, G-H color diamonds and approximately 4.00 cttw in sapphires. The inside of the frame is engraved MRS EUGENE V HAYNES on one side and ATLANTA, GA on the other. What is unusual about this purse is that the handle is not the expected "on the wrist" type, rather, the ornate Edwardian chain has been lengthened to shoulder length with an addition of yellow gold snake chain. Now the additional chain may have been added at a later date, but if so, the conversion is done very well! 124.0 dwt.
