Description: Rum'n'Cola Collection. Logan-McCloskey 9.1/9.2 - actually an intermediate die-state between those described in the Logan-McCloskey reference. In state 9.1, on the reverse, a die crack extends to the rim from "L" in PLURIBUS. Die state 9.2 is famous for the large cud above the left side of the motto. On this coin, the full cud has not yet developed, but a die crack extends to the rim from "E" through "T" of UNITED and to the rim. A small internal cud over "E P" is a prelude to the full cud seen on the later die state, marking this an unusual intermediate example. The cataloger has seen few other comparable pieces, none of them this high in grade -- speaking of which, this luminous and softly glowing example boasts olive-gold, verdant and charcoal-grey accents on a very decent strike given the state of the dies. This is the kind of specimen that will appeal to most only on account of grade and price, but will hopefully find its way into the collection of a true numismatist, which is why it earns the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.
