Description: Big Sky Collection. 181 graded MS-66 FBL, 55 higher at PCGS. Toning decorates the surface in much the manner of a mint-set piece, suggesting this may have been one of the special examples set aside by the mint for collectors. Lavender-bronze hues dance over the obverse, spilling over to Arctic-grey on the reverse. Not so long ago, an MS-66 FBL might have warranted a $5,000 bid when it was the highest available grade, but the public caught on to the scarcity of the earlier San Francisco emissions and a dozen or so examples out of thousands certified pushed the upper grade limit to the superb-gem grade level, making MS-66 FBL something of a "sweet spot" for collectors today.
