Lot Title: 1927-D VAM-2 PCGS MS-65
Lot Number: 843
Description: Junior Decker Collection. VAM-2, Top-50 "doubled die obverse". 191 graded MS-65, 47 higher at PCGS. The monogram shows doubling as does "7" in the date as well as at the monogram and some of the rays, etc. 1927-D has the highest mintage between the three mints for the better 1927 date, yet well over a million pieces entered circulation. So while common in most grades, finding a true gem proves daunting to avid collectors. Here is a fully lustrous, silky smooth example showing a delicate hint of classy russet-grey toning and no distracting marks. The doubled-die feature only adds to the appeal, but some bidders may notice minor counting wheel effect straggling from "IN" over to "19".
