Description: Preston Vida Collection. Ideally graded, some exceptionally brief, feathery hairlines flutter over the surface and create the impression of very faint finger rub throughout. For some astute collectors, circulated examples of double-eagles off the S.S. Central America hold more intrigue than mint-state piece, because the former may have actually been carried and used by passengers on the ill-fated steamship. Superficial friction endows the near-mint grade, joined by perhaps three or so small abrasions on the obverse and another on the reverse above the eagle's head.
