Lot Title: 1795 Plain Edge, No Pole C-6(c) PCGS XF details/damage
Lot Number: 1048
Description: Big Sky Collection. Cohen-6c with no pole and a plain edge constitutes one of the available die-marriages for 1795. The coin was struck on a cut-down Talbot, Allum & Lee -- the "Y" of LIBERTY remains plainly visible at the obverse far left. As a consequence of repurposing the prior struck "cent", the surface was likely inevitably going to become dark upon circulation, although several noticeable digs and numerous tiny surface intrusions play a role in the half-cent's appearance. Unlike many, the surface is not truly granular and actually shows nice metallic hardness, which many bidders will find appealing in light of the obvious shortcomings.
