Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1806 ANACS XF-40
Lot Number: 1036
Description: Sheldon-270, as are all 1806 large-cents. 1804 and 1809 are the only other dates manufactured off a single pair of dies. For a common die-marriage, S-270 proves unexpectedly elusive at the mint-state level, and XF-40 is about as high a grade as one frequently encounters in better collections. The color shades a bit toward the darker end of medium brown, and incorporates subtle, ash-grey deposits nearer the devices. With no major marks present, one might notice a couple of light nicks off the end of the bust and perhaps one or two faint, old pinscratches at the center of the reverse.
