Description: Mintage: 8000. 1 graded VF-30, 36 higher at NGC. An absurdly low population report even in middle grade only underscores the extreme scarcity of the 1866 dime in any grade level. Deduct the many damaged examples from what remains available and the collector becomes faced with depressingly limited options. Fortunately, this example provides an outstanding opportunity to step up and acquire an unbelievably original representative, one which still has circulation dirt clinging to the surface. Toast-grey toning endows the entire surface and hopes to subdue a handful of minimal old scratches subtly lurking in the obverse right field.
