Description: Crazy Animal Collection. 1 graded MS-65 PL, 3 higher at NGC. Note that the quoted population is strictly for fully prooflike coins, of which this is an astonishing example. It would be ridiculously easy to assume this to be some sort of branch-mint proof given the inescapably deep contrast procured by richly textured devices against blatantly mirrored fields. Even the rim goes beyond being squared off, as a subtle wire fin entirely surrounds both sides -- not possible without phenomenal striking pressure. One can dream, of course, but the lack of perfect details within a few obverse leaves and certainly at both of the eagle's legs alerts the viewer that rather than a proof, this is, indeed, "merely" a marvelously produced circulation strike.
