Description: Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-106a (R.3), the "beaded reverse" that is actually more easily attributed in the "a" state by the die crack crossing over the two uppermost arrowheads. Once considered very scarce, the rarity has been downgraded over the last twenty years as cherrypickers have discovered additional examples amongst dealer holdings of what is otherwise a common capped-bust half-dollar date. Gunmetal-violet and coral-gold hues splash out in irregular formation of the obverse, while the reverse tends to display merely apricot-grey and silvery hues.
